Hitting the Grand Slam of Your Life

Published on February 9, 2012

Did you ever think about what it takes to be at bat in a pressure situation and come through with a home run?  Think about all the thoughts and fears that are going through your mind.  Think about all the techniques you are trying to remember to hit the ball properly.  And then think about the result you want to achieve if you even allow yourself to think that way.  How you think in pressure situations will dictate the results you will achieve.  Watch this video on how a girls softball team won a championship and the mindset from which they operated.

The question you need to ask yourself is when you come up to the plate in life—whether you’re taking a test, trying to close a deal, win a case, start a new business or relationship, what you are thinking about in that moment?  If you are thinking about what you don’t want to have happen, you will not be happy with your results. If you are thinking about what you want to have happen, you will be much happier.

This strategy is called visualization.  It is the first of seven traits one needs to be a great leader and/or top producer in sales as outlined in the CEO Bestselling book Lead, Sell or Get Out of the Way. Either way, we all visualize.  The question is are we visualizing the right things.  This is in your control.  You do have the power within to control your destiny.  The question is are you doing what it takes to turn your desires into reality.

Hey, that slugger in the video is my daughter Amanda.  She was on a streak last season in which she hit 7 home runs in 6 six games.  Hopefully she will continue to visualize properly this coming season.
